Preparation of Nanocellulose from Coffee Pulp and Its Potential as a Polymer Reinforcement

Coffee is one of the most valued agricultural products regarding its high commercialization rate. During production coffee beans, pulp obtained as main byproducts with a cellulose content more than 30% dry weight. This research focused on value-added potential fiber reinforcement in composite materials. The nanocellulose (NCP) from (CP) was prepared and subsequently used filler to reinforce polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) matrix for improvement PVA properties. CP treated via alkali bleaching treatment before NCP using acid hydrolysis treatment. TEM result showed successful preparation an average diameter 16.03 ± 4.70 nm increasing crystallinity size index. effect glycerol (G) observed. that had play-role plasticizer increased flexibility decreased hardness brittleness nanocomposite film. film PVA/G/NCP fabricated various ratios through casting method. It shown physical properties were improved presence compared neat
